The Miami SkyLift is an interesting new attraction located in downtown Miami’s Bayfront Park. You’ll gain an interesting perspective on our city when you ride 500 feet into the air in a helium balloon suspended above the park. The ride lasts about 15 minutes and includes a narrated description of Miami as you ride.

I had the opportunity to ride the SkyLift on a very clear day and was surprised by the view, reaching about 25 miles into the suburbs. The view of the ocean and beaches was also fantastic! Sure, the SkyLift is designed to separate tourists from their money, but it’s an interesting ride for locals as well. I encourage you to give it a try the next time you’re downtown.

Directions

If you’re not familiar with Bayfront Park, it’s easy to get there. Take I-95 to exist 2A and follow the marked route to Biscayne Boulevard. When the road ends, turn left onto Biscayne. Travel three blocks north and you’ll see the park on the right side of the road. You can’t miss the giant balloon! If you reach American Airlines Arena, you’ve gone too far.

You may also travel via public transportation. Take the Miami MetroRail to Government Center and transfer there to the Metro Mover’s Inner Loop. Exit at the Bayfront Park station.

Hours of Operation

The SkyLift opens at 11AM, 365 days a year. It closes at 10PM on Friday and Saturday nights and 7PM on other evenings. Note that the lift will not operate in inclement weather, including high winds.

Admission Fees

Standard admission fees are $15.89 for adults and $8.88 for children ages 3-9.
