The Bottom Line

Azul's cuisine may leave something to be desired, but they more than make up for it with one of the city's best wine lists and a breathtaking view of Biscayne Bay. It's located inside the Mandarin Oriental hotel on Brickell Key.

  • Romantic ambiance
  • Beautiful setting
  • Extensive wine list

Cons

  • Overpriced cuisine

Description

  • Three-time winner of the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence
  • Rated as one of the top 100 hotel restaurants by the Zagat survey
  • Wine list with over 700 labels

Guide Review - Azul

Clay Conley's upscale cuisine brings an Asian twist to classic Mediterranean flavors at Azul. However, Azul's menu isn't the reason to come to this establishment. It's certainly adequate but Azul's location and ambiance truly make it stand out from the pack. Located in the landmark Mandarin Oriental hotel on Brickell Key, Azul is one of the most romantic places to eat in Miami. Between its waterfront setting and fantastic view of the Miami skyline, dinner at Azul tends to be an unforgettable evening.

Azul's menu is innovative, but doesn't justify the high $50+ cost. Selected menu items include "A Study in Tuna", Rainbow of Oysters, Miso Marinated Hamachi, and Moroccan Lamb.

If Azul doesn't quite fit your budget, you can get a less expensive meal featuring the same view at Cafe Sambal, also located in the Mandarin Oriental. Sambal's outdoor seating area is one of my favorite places to eat lunch and people-watch in Miami.
