Each year, we set aside April 22nd as Earth Day: a celebration of our planet and a call to protect its natural resources. Although the official Earth Day is always on the 22nd, Miami hosts a number of events throughout the week to provide residents with the opportunity to learn more about protecting the environment and conserving our natural resources. Here's a rundown on the Earth Day celebrations taking place in Miami this year.
Miami Goin' Green

The annual Miami Goin' Green event is a free family-friendly event featuring live performances, a family fun zone with physical challenges for kids and an experiments tent for adults and children.
Crandon Park EarthFest

Crandon Park's celebration features live musical guests, workshops, tram tours, nature walks and special events for Kids. Admission is free, but there's a $5 parking fee at Crandon Park.
Native Plant Day at Pennekamp State Park

This event falls a few weeks before Earth Day, but it's sure to be exciting! It features nursrey specialists providing information on the importance of native plants, caring for tropical plants and designing a butterfly garden.
Earth Day at the Barnacle

The Barnacle's Earth Day celebration includes displays from earth-friendly businesses, arts and crafts, games and live music. Admission is $2 for adults and children ages 6 and up.
Earth Day at Bahia Honda State Park

Bahia Honda State Park celebrates Earth Day with live music, hot dogs and sloppy joes. The event is sponsored by the Florida Keys Astronomy Club and will feature raffles, telescopes, face painting, puppet shows and a sand sculpture contest.
