Top Miami Bars and Nightclubs

By Renee Chapple, About.com

Miami's known around the world for our lively nightlife. From the crowded bars on South Beach that draw the "who's who" of the fashion world to award-winning microbreweries, you have plenty of choices if you're looking for a unique place to get a drink. Don't forget that it's important to have a designated driver. If you don't want one of your buddies saddled with driving responsibilities, consider the South Beach Bar Hopping Shuttle.

1. Clevelander

Chang'r
The Clevelander is a South Beach landmark that often appears in print and on television as an iconic landmark representing the South Beach lifestyle. This sexy bar offers a wild party any night of the week. Be sure to stop by the "drink island" while you're there! It's perfectly acceptable to throw on a t-shirt and wander across the street from the beach and grab a quick drink.

2. Mango's Tropical Cafe

Stig Nygaard
Mango's Tropical Cafe (just down the street from The Clevelander) builds its reputation on a sexy, Latin beat. The music includes a selection of typical nightclub music interspersed with Latin specialties. Don't be surprised if you see the bartenders jump up on top of the bar to interrupt the evening with a sexy dance! Mango's is a must-visit for nightlife lovers.

3. Wet Willie's

Sean Lucas
If you're looking for a refreshing way to cool off from the hot Miami Beach sun, Wet Willie's is your destination! Specializing in frozen drinks with tempting names like Sex on the Beach, Mojito Mojo, Monkey Shine and the threatening Call-A-Cab (which contains 153-proof alcohol), Wet Willie's is an icy way to chill out. Willie's also offers a full food menu if you're looking for an entertaining place to take out-of-town guests for dinner.

4. Titanic Brewery

If you're looking for an interesting place to grab a beer that's a little more on the tame side, give Titanic Brewery in Coral Gables a try. It's located on Ponce De Leon, right near the University of Miami campus. In addition to a full, tasty food menu, Titanic offers handcrafted beers and ales brewed in their onsite brewery.

5. Globe Bar and Cafe

Also located in Coral Gables, Globe Cafe and Bar certainly isn't tame! It offers a piece of the South Beach singles nightlife in downtown Coral Gables. You'll find the after-work professional crowd at this bar, where the party often overflows out right onto Alhambra Circle.
