Each year, the cities of Miami Beach, Florida and Basel, Switzerland join forces to present one of the world's premier international art shows. Art Basel takes place each June in Switzerland and December on our sunny shores. The annual event will take place in Miami from December 4-7, 2008.

The majority of events take place at the Miami Beach Convention Center, where guests may view works from over 195 renowned galleries. Events at other venues include the Art Projects event, a series of public art projects located at sites within walking distance of the convention center and the Art Perform performance art event at nearby Collins Park.

Art Basel attempts to encompass all fields of art, including painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, photography, editions, performance, digital and video art. Exhibitors come from 30 different countries with 41% from the US and Canada, 49% from Europe and the remainder from Latin America, Asia and Africa.

Tickets for adults are $22 for a one-day ticket or $34 for a two-day ticket. Children, students, seniors and groups of 10 or more may purchase discounted one-day tickets for $12. Additionally, if you’d like to come in the evening, you may buy a one-day ticket after 5PM for $12. Event organizers strive to make this event accessible to children and offer free admission to those under 16 when accompanied by an adult.

If you’re planning ahead, future Art Basel Miami Beach events are currently scheduled for:
  • December 3-6, 2009
  • December 7-5, 2010
Get out to the beach and enjoy! For more information on this year’s event, including a photo gallery, visit the official Art Basel Miami Beach website.
