A recent study conducted by the National Association of Home Builders concluded that Miami is one of the least affordable cities in the United States. The study evaluated home sales transaction data, interest rates, median household income, property taxes, insurance costs and population to rank the metropolitan areas that are most unfriendly to homeowners. Miami ranked as the fifth worst metropolitan area, behind New York City, San Francisco, Long Island and Los Angeles.
