Florida law mandates a minimum sales tax rate of 6%, collected by the state government to provide services to all Floridians. However, the law also provides for a local option sales tax that lets each county set its own local tax that is collected on top of the general state rate.
What does this mean for you? Practically speaking, it means that you'll pay a different sales tax rate in each Florida county. Our Florida Sales Tax Table lists the current rates for each county in the state.

Whay do different retailers (Sam’s Club and Costco) charge different amounts of Florida/Leon County Sales Tax (7.5%) on the same priced item? On a $1.50 item, Sams Club charges $.12 and Costco charges $.11. Based on other sale amounts, Sam’s Club seems to round up Sales Tax charges to the next highest penny. Not a big deal for an individual customer, but a great amount based on total sales.
I lease properties in Florida and the sulease for short term rentals for Corporate Housing how much tax should I charge my clients? and if I leas to a tourist coming from out of state should I charge tourism sales taxes and how much if so?
I used to work for a supplier for construction that said they had many conversations with the State of Florida. If having a job in Miami, the instructions were that for the 1st $5,000 of any invoice should be taxed at 7%, every dollar thereafter should be taxed at 6%. Is this true?
I paid $7.10 tax on a $25.00 shirt at Best of Miami @ Bayside. that was more tax than our great state of Texas, supposely we have a higher tax rate. I will never go to that store again!
